Ventspils is a beautifully restored historic center, pastel-colored houses and many small shops and cafes boast. The oldest existing building is the Teutonic castle from the 13th Century, which now houses a modern museum on the history of the castle. These include an open-air museum on the coast, which deals with the topic of fishing, and an arts and crafts house.
Ventspils is also known for its great sandy beach backed by dunes. There are also curiosities to discover: The city is celebrating this summer the 10-year anniversary of the so-called Cow Parade, an open-air spectacle with artfully painted cows, and from 1 October they are with the "vent" out even their own currency.
